ANNUAL GATHERINGS

CELEBRATE LIFE – BC BEREAVEMENT DAY

May 16, 2010 at 5:30pm to 8pm
Admission is free.

Presented by:
Crossroads Hospice Society and First Memorial Funeral Services – Burkeview Chapel Music by Coastal Sound Children’s Touring Concert Choir.

Grieving takes time, often much longer than people expect. Too often following the death of a family member or friend people feel isolated in their grief and pressured by society's expectations to "get over it and move on". How does one cope well when the much needed support lessens? At Hospice we recognize the on-going nature of grief. Whether it has been 6 weeks, 6 months, 6 years or longer since the death of a loved one - it is natural for grief to surge from time to time.

We invite you to join us for a very special evening where openly expressing grief for the death of a loved one is accepted, understood and supported. Comfort may be found in gathering with others who are experiencing similar feelings of loss, by sharing stories of remembrance and by honouring the echoes of grief.

To be held at The Gathering Place in the Village & Leigh Square (just behind the Dairy Queen), 1100-2253 Leigh Square (behind City Hall, off Whyte Avenue and Shaughnessy), Port Coquitlam.

BLUE CHRISTMAS SERVICE

Remembering Those We Miss at Christmas

December 16, 2009 Thursday at 7:30pm
Ioco United Church, 1790 Ioco Road

The holidays can be difficult. Many people find they are having trouble feeling "in the spirit" of things, whether because of the recent (or anticipated) death of a family member or friend, the end of a marriage, the loss of work, or other trying change. It may be difficult to reconcile feelings of sadness and loss with the expected joy and cheeriness of the Christmas season. The name Blue Christmas is fitting because despite the trappings of gifts, special meals, and Christmas carols - the season can be darker than "normal" times of the year for those who struggle.

Offered by Crossroads Hospice Society & Ioco United Church , this Blue Christmas Service will be a time to honour the feelings of sadness and loss that you may be experiencing.
